CONSTITUTION
Article
I: Name of Organization
The name of this organization shall be Restoration Campus Ministries
at Truman State University.
Article II:
Purpose of Organization
The purpose of Restoration Campus Ministries shall be:
A. To create a fellowship of students who have a common interest in
Christ’s Restored Gospel.
B. To share Christ’s Restored Gospel at Truman State University
and in the surrounding community.
C. To offer transportation to and from church services for students
who need transportation.
D. To provide ministry and service to the Macon Restoration Branch (morning
worship services, building clean-ups, etc.)
E. To sponsor spiritual studies and social activities on campus and
in the community.
Article
III: Membership of the Organization
A.
Truman Students, faculty, staff members, and citizens of the community
are eligible for membership.
B. Criteria or qualifications for membership
1.
Voting members are students attending Truman State University who
have attended over 50% of the meetings in one year.
2. Non-voting members are all other members in the organization.
C. Categories for Membership
1.
Membership is divided between voting members and non-voting members.
2. Privileges, duties, and/or responsibilities of each type of membership:
a.
Voting members take part in the operations of the organization.
b. Non-voting members shall retain voice and may make suggestions
regarding the operations of the organization but do not have the
privilege to vote.
D. Withdrawal or Removal of Members
1.
Removal of members shall be at the decision of the voting members.
2. Any person(s) prohibiting the organization from achieving its above-stated
goals is under the grounds for removal.
Article IV: Elections
A.
Times and Periods when Elections Occur
1.
Elections are held once a year during the last week of April.
2. Special elections may be held when needed to fill vacancies.
B. Nomination Procedures
1.
Nominations, including self-nominations, shall be made one meeting
prior to elections.
2. Only voting members may be nominated for officer positions.
C. Notifications and Posting of Elections
1.
Elections will be verbally announced at meetings at the beginning
of April.
D. Elections procedures
1.
Election of officers shall be by secret ballot.
2. Officers shall be elected by a 51% majority vote.
3. Only voting members are eligible to vote.
Article
V: Officers
A.
The Chaplain is to be a priesthood member according to the established
rules and covenant of the Restoration Branches. The President, Vice
President, Secretary, Outreach Ministries Coordinator, and Chaplain
shall be elected according to the election guidelines as stated above.
B. Officers
1.
President
a.
To ask as an official spokesperson for RCM
b. To oversee policies and programs of group
c. To execute financal transactions in coordination with the Vice
President
d. To pick up campus mail in the CSI Office
e. To run organization meetings
f. In charge of RCM email account with Secretary.
2.
Vice President
a.
Handle bank account and financial needs, including but not limited
to fundraising, donations, and budget, in coordination with the
President
b. Fullfills Presidential duties when President is not present.
c. To organize, delegate, and assist in group social activities.
3.
Secretary
a.
Keeping record of attendance and membership.
b. Keeping minutes of every meeting.
c. Email and communication of the entire group.
d. In charge of RCM email account with President.
4.
Chaplain
a.
To oversee the spiritual aspects of RCM.
b. Responsible for the worship aspects of the group.
c. To assist in spiritual outreach programs with the Outreach Ministries
Coordinator.
5.
Outreach Ministries Coordinator
a.
Responsible for activities serving campus and community needs.
b. To generate ideas from the group for witness opportunities on
campus
c. To coordinate witnessing and service activities for the group.
d.
To oversee all witness and service activities.
C. All officers must be voting members of Restoration Campus Ministries
and students at Truman State University.
D. Terms of Office
1.
An officer holds an office for the term of one year.
2. Officers assume their positions the last meeting of the previous
year.
E. Procedures for Removal of Officers
F. Appeal Policy
1.
An appeal is granted only once and must be exclusively made by the
accused.
2. In the event that the decision of the executive board of officers
is not agreed upon and argument proposed by the accuse is warranted,
an appeal can be made.
3. The next level of appeal will include only the accused, the accuser,
and the executive board officers.
4. The final decision of the appeal will remain the standing position
of the group.
Article
VI: Committees
Committees shall be added at the discretion of the officers.
Article
VII: Meetings
A.
Types of meetings
1.
Regular meetings are attended by all members and officers.
2. Officer meetings are attended by officers only.
B.
Time and Occurrence of Meetings
1.
Regular meetings are held weekly. Time of meetings are decided by
members at the end of each semester for the following semester.
2. The President may hold officer meetings when needed throughout
the year.
C. Special Meetings
1.
The President may call special meetings.
2. Two officers and 50% of voting members must be present.
D. Quorum
1.
The quorum’s purpose is to ensure business decisions and voting
procedures.
2. A quorum is at least 2 officers and 50% of voting members.
3. If a quorum is not present then the meeting cannot take place.
E. Method of Conducting Meetings
1.
Regular meetings shall be informal and run by the officers.
2. Appeal meetings and other special meetings shall be more formal
as needed.
Article
VIII: Finances
A.
No dues or membership fees are required.
B. Expenditures
1.
The President or Vice President are responsible for authorizing all
expenditures and reimbursements.
2. One office shall disburse remaining funds upon dissolution of the
organization according to the general agreement of the officers.
Article
IX: Advisor
A.
The group selects an advisor by a 51% majority vote.
B. No special qualifications are required for the position of advisor
outside of Truman State University’s requirements.
C. Roles and Duties of the Advisor
1.
Advisor is not required to be involved in the organization any further
than required by Truman State University.
D. Term for advisor is indefinite.
Article X: Amendments
A.
Only an officer can formally propose an amendment, either in writing
or verbally. Other members may request an officer propose an amendment.
B. Provisions
1.
An amendment is to be proposed at the beginning of a meeting.
2. Officers must have two weeks notice before the amendment is proposed
to the constitution and/or by-laws.
3. 100% of members must be present for adoption of the amendment.
4. Only voting members may vote on amendments.
5. 100% of votes are required to pass an amendment.
6. New amendments take effect at the following meeting.
C. Ratification
1.
The constitution and/or by-laws go into effect upon officer signing
and Truman State University’s approval through the Center of
Student Involvement.
